10 Steps to Change Your Life – Now

When you decide that you’ve had enough of feeling powerless and your mind is overburdened, you are at that magical realization that your only point of power is in the now, as Louise Hay said many times. Perhaps it’s time for you to make the decision to fast-track that decision to elevate your life. There is a path – it’s not easy, but it is simple.

FIRST: Visualize yourself exactly as you want to be. Despite how badly or poorly things “seem” to be at the time, see yourself as successful, happy, and loving. Paint the picture you need to see in your mind’s eye. Hold onto this picture, ever seeing it more clearly and more powerfully. And most of all – don’t doubt this image. It’s a picture of hope, and it’s a target and a goal.

SECOND: Expect negative thoughts, they’ll come. In fact – you can anticipate them, because they’ve been a part of your reality for a while. We all have them. But you can prepare an opposing and affirming statement to counter-act the negativity. When you find that sinking thought coming up, shoot your arrow of that positive thought across your mind right away. You’re learning two things here: recognizing your thoughts, and equipping your mind with new thoughts that support your goals and not destroy them.

THIRD: Guard against your imagination building up obstacles. It will happen. Difficulties are only that: difficulties. A mind’s untrained imagination will blow them up into hopeless barriers and defeat. Recognize them, and diminish them with your will. Remember that imaginings are only thoughts, and you can choose a better thought at any time.

FOURTH: When you see people who have succeeded and maybe “made it big” in your mind, don’t be jealous and try to copy them. Use that inspiration to ignite your own brilliance and creativity. Most people are no better than you, and they all started at the beginning, too.

FIFTH: Write out at phrase or quote that inspires you. You may have heard somewhere that the whole universe will conspire to help you, when you are in a place to receive and be grateful. Or if you are religious, maybe you have a phrase in mind. When I was young, I learned one that went “If God is for you, who can be against you?” (Christian Bible) and today I paraphrase that as “If the Universe and Heaven are supporting me, then I agree and declare that now.” Read your phrase out loud at least ten times a day in a heartfelt moment of concentration and gratitude.

SIXTH: Invest your time and find a counselor who helps you gain insight into your mental blocks and your thought habits. You may find that some thoughts are showing up as anxiety, pain, or doubts! Knowing yourself is wisdom and can uncover secrets that you can work on.

SEVENTH: Affirm out loud ten times a day: “There is nothing that is impossible to the Universal Goodness that supports me!” (Or use “God”). Knowing that a stronger power “has your back” is an antidote to doubt and feelings of being inferior.

EIGHTH: Think about what your capabilities are now. Raise that bar, say 5% or 10% in your mind. We are working on setting goals to try harder and expect a little better. Do it again when you feel the time is right. This helps us to realize we are more capable than we thought and builds a sense of belief in our ability to achieve. Keep trying.

NINTH: Within your spiritual beliefs, put yourself in partnership with God, Goddess, Heaven or Universe. Feel the support and strength you share and receive, and know that the spiritual support you have underpins all your efforts and gives you strength and endurance on your journey of self-improvement.

TENTH: Remind yourself often that you are in partnership with the Divine, and together, you are not defeated. Recognize that you are in partnership with Universal Power for good, and draw on that. You are supported.
